Real answers.
Real life.
Real FSHD.

I'm Ryan. Twenty-plus years with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy. This is the site I needed the day I was diagnosed — written by someone actually living it.

Three ways this site can help you

Learn it. Ask about it. Track it.

RealFSHD is a resource site for people living with facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD), built by Ryan — who's lived with it for over 20 years. Ask Dux, an AI assistant trained on real FSHD info, track your symptoms over time, or browse the curated resource library.

01Ask

An AI trained on what I've learned. No account. No data harvesting. Ask anything — the dumb questions, the scary ones, the ones at 2am.

02Learn

What FSHD is actually doing to your body.

Plain-language guides on progression, exercise, supplements, and the questions your neurologist won't sit still long enough to answer.

03Track

See your own pattern, not someone else's.

Log symptoms, strength, daily function. Watch what's changing, what isn't, and whether that new supplement is doing anything at all.

The Story

The FSHD site I needed twenty years ago. It didn't exist. So I built it.

My arms stopped lifting. My foot started catching. I figured it was an injury. Then a doctor said the phrase “progressive disease” and my life rearranged itself in about ten minutes. I'm guessing your story starts somewhere familiar.

I spent years ignoring it, then years attacking it the wrong way. No real information, no one in my corner who actually understood what I was dealing with, and nowhere honest to look.

FSHD didn't ruin my life. It just made me figure out faster what was actually in it.

This site isn't a nonprofit. It's not selling a supplement. It's not trying to be your doctor. It's me, in my bedroom office, building the thing I needed at twenty-five.

If it helps, great. If it just makes you feel less alone — that's fine too. — Ryan

The Library

Curated, not algorithmic.

Resources I've actually read, watched, or used. Some are mine. Most aren't. None of them are here because someone paid to be.
