What data we collect

If you create an account, we store your email address. That's it for account data — no name required, no phone number, nothing else. That address also goes on the Real FSHD mailing list when you sign up, which is covered below. If you use the tracker, your daily logs and strength check-in entries are stored in your account. You put that information in; it belongs to you.

How it's stored

Your account is managed by Clerk, a third-party authentication service. Your tracker data is stored in Supabase, a Postgres database, with row-level security — meaning your data is only accessible by you. No one at Real FSHD has access to your tracker entries.

Email and the mailing list

Creating an account adds your email address to the Real FSHD mailing list — that's what the note on the sign-up page is telling you before you sign up. The list is run by Loops, an email service, and it's used for occasional updates about the site: new features, new resources, that sort of thing. Nothing else. The newsletter form is the same list, so signing up twice won't get you two emails.

Every email has an unsubscribe link and it works immediately. You can unsubscribe and keep your account — the two are separate. Worth knowing: deleting your account removes your data from Real FSHD, but it doesn't automatically take you off the mailing list. Use the unsubscribe link for that, or email us and we'll take care of it.

What we don't do with your data

Your data is never sold, and it's never used to train any AI model. Your tracker entries aren't shared with anyone, for any reason. The one thing that does leave is your email address, which goes to Loops so the mailing list can reach you — and nowhere else. No advertisers, no data brokers, no partners.

Dux and the AI assistant

Dux uses Anthropic's Claude API to respond to your questions. Conversation messages are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate responses, but no conversation history is stored by Real FSHD beyond your active session. Once you close or refresh the chat, it's gone. Anthropic's own privacy policy governs how they handle API traffic.

Your rights

You can export all your tracker data at any time from your account page. You can delete your tracker data or your entire account from the same place — no waiting, no forms. Both actions take effect immediately.

Cookies, analytics, and your browser

The site uses cookies for one thing: authentication, so you stay logged in across sessions. No ad cookies, no cross-site tracking, no advertising networks — none of that is here.

We do use Vercel Web Analytics to see which pages actually get read. It's cookieless and aggregate — page views, country, browser and device type. It doesn't follow you to other sites, doesn't leave an identifier on your device, and isn't tied to your account or anything you've logged. Vercel's own privacy policy governs what they do with it.

A few preferences live in your browser's local storage instead of on a server: whether you picked light or dark mode, whether you've dismissed a panel, and a timestamp that keeps the newsletter form from being submitted over and over. Those never leave your device, and clearing your browser data clears them.
